Pricing & Design Options

At Wouldn't it be Lovely, it's important to us that everything be as straightforward as possible while still giving you unlimited options so that you end up with a design you love and pricing that you can understand!  When it comes to design and pricing, you have two routes, custom or semi-custom. A custom design means we're creating something completely new and unique just for you. A semi-custom design means we're starting with an existing design you've seen on the website or our instagram but personalizing it to make it a perfect fit for you and your wedding.  Read on for more details about your options and costs.

Custom Design

With Custom Designs there are no limits to your design! From custom watercolors, calligraphy, and hand lettering, to metallic foil, letterpress printing, hand made paper, custom die cut shapes and more. You may not know exactly what you want, but we'll work together to put together all the elements to get you to your perfect design.

You are not charged by the hour or per proof or for samples of materials as we believe that you shouldn't worry about making edits or asking to see something a different way.

When pricing custom designs, there is a flat design fee for the projected design work which is added to the base price of your invitations (which is determined by layout, printing method, treatments, paper, etc). The design fee is determined by quantity and what custom artwork we need to create and typically ranges between $700-$4000 which is added onto the final cost of the invitations.

Check out some of the standard formats below to get an idea of pricing for some of the most popular form your custom design may take. Don't hesitate to contact me with details about what you're imagining so I can send along some preliminary pricing!

Typical Price Range

The cost of Custom Projects is determined by pricing out the physical elements (The number of cards, envelopes, addressing etc, as well as any printing, production, and paper upgrades. Then we determine the custom design fees, which cover the time spent creating any of your custom design elements. To give you a general range, We find most custom clients spend a total of $2000-$4000 on Save the dates and $3500-$7000 on their invitations. Please note, that regardless of quantities, if you go the Custom Design route, the minimum price for any set of save the dates is $2000, and $3500 for invitations.

SEMI-CUSTOM design

A Semi-Custom Design starts with design elements that Wouldn't it be Lovely has already created. We start with existing design elements, artwork and font layouts and find the combination that is the perfect fit for you. The big differentiation between Custom and Semi-Custom is that we are not creating new paintings, or illustrations for a semi-custom design.

See our list of venues and locations we have already painted for past clients here. Please note, we create new artwork contstantly, so we may have painted items not on this list

Semi-custom designs are heavily customizable, you can change wording, papers, envelope, ribbon or belly band materials, paper colors and text colors, you can add or change insert cards and layouts. You can add or remove treatments like foil depending on your budget. You can change the format (see below for more format and layout options).

Typically, is no design fee for personalized designs unless you need less than 70 sets. We do have certain upgrades available in semi-custom that do incur smaller design fees.

If you like parts from one design and pieces from another we can often mix and match to make a perfect design for you. Combining & editing different designs may incur a minimal design fee to cover the additional time and attention to detail that requires. Any design that requires new watercolor art or illustrations falls into the custom design category & will incur custom design fees.

Contact us with all the details about what you'd like your design to be so we can send along some preliminary pricing.

Typical Price Range

We find that most semi-custom clients spend a total of $1000-$2000 on their save the dates and $2500-$4000 on their invitations depending on quantities and any optional upgrades they've selected. Due to the personal attention given to every design and current demand, the minimum price for any set of invitations or save the dates (regardless of quantity) is $1000 for save the dates and $2500 for invitations.

Printing

WIBL works with three primary printing methods. Flat/Digital printing, Letterpress and Foil press. Digital printing is the printing method included in all the base pricing. Letterpress and Foil are added treatments and are charged per piece they are added to and are priced by quantity and per piece. Treatments can be combined but you are charged for each individual treatment if you do so.

Digital/ Flat Printing:

This is WIBLs standard printing method. Digital printing is a flat print, and can be done in any matte color- this is how we print all the lovely watercolors and other details on many of the designs you see on the website. We work with professional grade printing presses to insure the very best quality!

white+ink.jpg

White Flat Printing:

We can print white ink on darker colored papers, this is most often done on envelopes for addressing, but can also be used on invitations. The colors and paper weights can be a bit more limited with this option and this cannot be mixed with standard digital printing. This is also a flat digital print, meaning it’s not raised off of, or imprinted into the paper. This treatment is priced by quantity.

letterpress.jpg

Letterpress:

Letterpress is a classic and timeless printing method using ink in matte colors done in those old-school style printing presses. We can color match to any color. Letterpress is pressed into the paper so you can feel the impression of your text and design when you run your fingers over it. It’s an ink based process using a die we make of your design. Each piece is pressed individually and it’s a classic and lovely look. Pricing for letterpress is dependent on quantities and number of colors and priced per piece you add it to.

foil+printing.jpg

Foil Press:

Foil press is a very similar process to letterpress but allows you to have metallic and shiny finishes. Foil is also done in a large press machine, the foil transfered with heat, using a custom die made of your design to press the foil onto the paper. There is a large variety of metallic and shiny color options to choose from, the most common being gold, silver and rose gold. Foil is pressed into the paper so you can feel the impression when you run your fingers over it. Pricing for letterpress is dependent on quantities and priced per piece you add it to.

debossed.jpg

Blind Debossing:

Blind debossing is the same process and price as foil press but without any color. Blind debossing allows us to create an impression pressed into the paper for a tactile feel. Text can be tough to read for some of your guests in this printing method, but is especially lovely for design details like borders, greenery and custom illustrations.

Papers

The standard WIBL paper is a 120lb eggshell finish soft white or cream paper. If you want a different colored paper in that weight range, most will be the same price and will incur no additional cost, colored papers can be more limited in their weight and finish options. There are lots of other great upgrades available as well if you want to do something extra special, lux or unique! Pricing is dependent on quantities and design, so please inquire if you’re interested!

Double Thick Papers For Letterpress & Foil

This is a VERY heavy paper option between 196-220lb (depending on the color). It’s basically as thick as cardboard but with a soft cotton finish. Colors are typically more limited with these options but still come in a variety of finishes and colors.

handmadedeckle.jpg

Handmade Paper with Natural Deckled Edge

This is a handmade cotton paper option with a natural deckled (rough) edge. Handmade paper can be created in a variety of colors, sizes and paper weights. Due to the irregular and handmade quality of this paper, it can only be done with foil or letterpress printing.

machine-deckle.jpg

Machine Deckled Edge

This is a GREAT option if you want that natural edge without the premium cost, we can do it on any style and color of paper and with any printing method. This look is created by machine that essentially eats the edges of your paper in a consistent but natural looking way.
