Book Recommendations

Weekend Reading: Creativity Inc.

A little book recommendation as we go into the weekend. I'm a big reader, at least a book a week, it's the only way I can stop myself from multi-tasking. When I read, it's all I do, and one of the only ways I can turn off the to-do list in my head, for me, it's so much better than TV (which I almost always have on when I'm working). That being said, I've always had a hard time reading non-fiction. When we moved, and my commute got longer, I started listening to podcasts and books on tape in the car. I could never get into fiction on tape, something about the narrator pretending to be multiple people puts me off. Non-fiction on the other hand is great, I got through all of Malcom Gladwells books that way, and I feel like I'm learning something during time that would otherwise be wasted. I'm listening to Creativity Inc. written by Ed Catmull, the president of Pixar. Whether you are a designer, or not, it's AMAZING and a must read (or listen, the narrator is GREAT). It's all about fostering creativity, managing creative companies, and being open to change. There are so many great stories about Pixar and their process of creation and story telling, which they do SO very well. So go get it, you won't regret it!
