Heading home...

I make the trip to Asia every 6 months or so. I wouldn't call it fun exactly, but it's not terrible either. Something about this trip has felt long and horrid. It's the little things, like the coke zero at the factory being expired and tasting like blood and pennies, or seeming to make the wrong choice every time I order food, or smacking my head REALLY hard (on the "oh Jesus handle" as my mommom would call it) when our van got cut off by a scooter with a death wish, that have made me REALLY wish I were home! I've been working on a some new wedding designs for while I've been here. I'll be happy to be back to my home set up to finish up the designs and send out mock ups!

Off we go! I can't wait to see the hubby and the pups! Have a great weekend, and be happy you're not trapped on a plane like me!

28 Hours in 60 Seconds: From Boston to Ho Chi Mihn

Let me preface this post by saying, I am NOT a videographer! That being said, I thought it would be fun to capture my 28 hours of travel to Vietnam, from my home in Franklin MA, to the Intercontinental in Ho Chi Mihn. My Videolicious app would only let me make 60 seconds of video so I cut out all the landing and taking off so it really looks like one flight instead of three. But you get the idea! Lots of shaky video set to Regina Spektor's "Don't Leave me Now". It's been a super busy week, so I'm glad to have the weekend to relax a bit. When I say relax, that means doing some invitation designs from my hotel room, but that's the fun stuff! I'll throw in some wandering around the city and buying random things for good measure too! Have a great weekend!

Bon Voyage... off to Vietnam & China

bon-voyage.jpg

I'm off to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam and Fuzhou China on Monday. For those of you just tuning in, this travel is for my "day design job" aka, designing kids shoes for Reebok, and I go twice a year. Though the trips have generally lost their shiny appeal (unless we're adding going somewhere new and fun to the tail end) I can say that I'm excited to trade Massachusetts' freezing winter for Vietnams balmy weather! Not pumped for my hair to expand to three times it's size because of the humidity though. There will still be daily posts while I'm gone, and I'll check in on Fridays with some travel tid-bits. I have lots of wedding things to work on while I"m gone though, so that'll be interesting! Luckily the plane rides leave me with plenty of time for such things!

On another note, I had to retire my first passport this trip! I never traveled out of the country until college, and this passport has been with me all over the world! I got extra pages for all my visas and stamps, and I'm truly sorry to see it go. I feel extraordinarily lucky to be able to travel so much with work and also personally because of the miles my husband and I have accumulated. Though I sometimes complain about my bi-yearly trips to Asia for work, it's allowed me to go to places I probably never would have seen otherwise, and definitely would never have become so familiar with! Vietnam, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Main Land China are places that are so very different from the USA and so amazing to experience. So here we go again! I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for fun things to share!

P.S. Isn't my new bag perdy? I love her! Got her at the Kate Spade outlet on sale!!

Travel: Moscow, Russia

So I'm back from my quick trip to Russia. It was very much like what I expected and at the same time, not what I expected at all. Winter in Moscow is grey. Very grey. The architecture was not at all what I expected. The city center is really amazingly beautiful, and the architecture is a lovely mix of styles, and  Red Square is pretty amazing. I missed a crazy protest in Red Square by just one day (it would have been a crazy story to have seen that!). I bought myself a beautiful set of Russian nesting dolls which are now living among with my other travel nick-nacks. I just have to say a little something about all these pictures too:

  1. Saint Basil's Cathedral: thats me, I really cant get over how cool this Church is, I just love all the detail and color.
  2. The buildings in Red Square are amazing, just look at that brick work!
  3. So I had to snap this pic, you can see a little rainbow hidden in the mural on that building. I like to think it's a little gay pride despite all the persecution going on there at the moment.
  4. I love the lamp posts on this street, I also love wide walkways like this where no cars are allowed. You never find streets like this in America, a place catering completely to pedestrians.
  5. Me and a co-worker getting a pic with Stalin and Lenin looks alikes, just because it's ridiculous that there are people dressing up to make money from tourists like us.
  6. Spotted this man walking his dog with his itty bitty kitten sitting on his head.
  7. My perdy new nesting dolls!

Baby it's Cold Outside: Off to Russia

I leave for Moscow, Russia on Sunday! It's a short work trip for Reebok (my day design job if you're just tuning in), it's a big market for us, and we're going to check out the area! I've never been and really don't know what to expect other then that it will be pretty cold and that I'll need to keep my political opinions to myself! I'll be sure to post pics once I get back on Friday! Have a great weekend!
